GPA Member, Eileen Cooley, PhD, recently published a book addressing the interpersonal challenges that come with loss.  Below is the publisher's summary:

After first becoming a widow, I read many books about loss.  Although these books offered helpful advice, none seemed to really address my changing social relationships and new identity.  After returning home from interpersonal interactions, I started writing about my experiences, trying to incorporate my knowledge as a psychologist to help me manage more effectively.

In a series of 45 essays I wrote about my changing relationships and the social challenges I encountered after losing my husband.  I highlighted two voices--1) my personal voice as a widow confronting my loss and changing identity, and 2) my voice as a psychologist addressing "what I can do for myself" to cope.
