  Counseling Psychology
  This private practice clinic is in a relatively small town (within city limits population = 36K) in a rural area (county population = 78K) in west Georgia (approximately 70 miles southwest of Atlanta). The clinic provides services to a wide range of clients in terms of age, SES, education, and presenting problem, along with a moderate degree of cultural diversity.

Referral sources include, but are not limited to, West Georgia Health System (WGHS) – Bariatric Clinic, WGHS – Oncology Clinic, the Emory Clinic - Bariatric Surgery, the Emory Clinic – Oncology, the Emory Clinic – Primary Care, BCBS of Georgia, Medicare, Aetna, local churches, Department of Human Resources – Family & Child Services, State Court of Troup County, the Superior Court of Troup County, and Georgia Department of Community Supervision (probation/parole).

Clients present in need of psychological evaluation for diagnostic clarity regarding cognitive disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, learning disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, behavioral addictions (i.e., gambling, sex), and paraphilia. Clients are also referred by physicians/surgeons and third party payers (insurance companies) for pre-surgical evaluation to determine suitability for bariatric surgery (i.e., gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, etc.). Physicians also refer patients who have been diagnosed with cancer to determine need for psychological or behavioral treatment for mood disorder and/or stress. Evaluation results are shared with the clients/patients, as well as recommendations and consultation.

Consultation services are provided directly (face-to-face) to the physicians and surgeons and their staff regarding the outcomes of evaluations and psychiatric/psychological and or behavioral recommendations. As authorized by clients’/patients’, consultation services are also provided to referral sources, such as the State Court Judge, Superior Court Judges, probation & parole officers, case managers, and non-physician healthcare providers.
