Workshop Title: Understanding Pediatric Sleep Disorders, Their Management, and How They May Affect Your Practice

Workshop Description

This workshop will highlight common pediatric sleep disorders that may affect your patient.  The effect of age and race in the presentation of these sleep disorders will be addressed.  In the second hour, using behavioral modifications to manage difficulty falling and maintaining sleep will be discussed.  Behavioral modifications are sometimes not adequate, thus the third hour will introduce the attendee to pharmacologic interventions used in pediatric insomnia, particularly in the context of co-morbid medical or neurodevelopmental disorders.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe common pediatric sleep disorders, their evaluation and management.
  2. Describe medications used for insomnia in children.
  3. Describe non-medication methods of helping children sleep.
